Budding builders learn on the job
The Wildlife Conservation Trust’s new Conservation hubs in KwaZulu-Natal will do more than just educate the public on the importance of conservation and protection of sea-life. Their construction is also providing short-term employment and, more importantly, skills development opportunities.
Tjeka is proud to have been appointed by Wildlife Conservation Trust’s training provider for this excellent initiative. We have already facilitated training at construction sites in Nyembe, Mabibi and Kwadapha. A total of 70 individuals have completed various of our building trade short courses, ranging from carpentry, plumbing and painting through to paving fencing installation.
The quality of the final structures speaks volumes about the workmanship of the participants. This can be expected as they were trained by seasoned artisans.
“The highest reward for one’s toil is not what one gets for it, but what one become by it.”
