Surveying NQF4

Our NQF 5 Surveying learnership transfers the skills needed to measure construction sites to the highest level of accuracy. This ensures that every subsequent step of the project aligns perfectly with the initial plan. In turn, engineers and contractors can proceed with their projects with confidence.

To register for this qualification (SAQA), individuals must have attained a NQF4 Further Education and Training Certificate. They must also be proficient in Mathematics, Communication and English.

They can also undergo recognition-of-prior learning. The assessor and learner will decide jointly on the most appropriate assessment procedures.

NQF4 Surveying competencies

Individuals who have completed our NQF4 Surveying learnership possess the following competencies:

  • An ability to undertake surveys in any working environment by collecting and controlling spatial data in various forms
  • An ability to use a variety of sophisticated survey instruments; hydrographic survey techniques; and computer software
  • An ability to set out accurately predetermined points on the ground
  • An ability to perform manual and electronic calculations and produce survey basic plans using captured field data
  • A solid understanding of survey theory
  • An ability to operate individually or as a team
  • A well-developed set of professional ethics and values relevant to the surveying discipline
  • An ability to assume supervisory responsibilities while continuously monitoring and adapting performance
