Management of civil construction processes NQF5

Our NQF5 Management of Civil Construction Processes imparts the skills needed to ensure that scope is neither exceeded nor compromised. This is in addition to effective project-management techniques to develop realistic schedules and allocate resources to optimise time management.

To register for this learnership (SAQA), learners must have acquired the following competencies:

NQF3 in the Further Education and Training band
NQF4 language competencies
Further Education and Training Certificate Physics and Chemistry

The qualification may also be obtained through recognition-of-prior learning (RPL). Learners who have met the requirements of any unit standard in this qualification may apply for RPL. Application must be done to the Construction Education and Training Authority (Home | CETA).

Holders of a NQF5 Management of Civil Construction Processes qualification can be relied upon to:

Identify and use various construction materials
Calculate construction quantities and develop a work plan
Develop and produce computer aided drawings
Organise and control the use of plant and equipment
Interpret construction drawings and specifications and deploy this information
Apply contract documentation
Develop and manage quality systems and procedures
Establish and maintain relationships with construction role players
Initiate testing and interpret test laboratory results
Manage construction project administration; construction resources; financial aspects; health and safety; and human resources

Prepare for a construction project
Survey and set out work areas
Tender for construction projects
Understand and apply structural principles and manage these activities
Manage labour intensive projects
Understand and apply drainage construction methods, as well as drainage construction operations
Demonstrate an understanding of road construction methods and manage these operations
