Brick and block manufacture
Our portable brick and block manufacture training teaches the basics of concrete masonry brick and block making.
Concrete block modular masonry is a long-standing internationally proven system. However, it is yet to be fully harnessed to help solve South Africa’s growing housing backlog.
There is already a high demand for these bricks and blocks in the townships. They provide a cost-effective means of building new perimeter walls; additions to existing structures; stand-alone rental rooms; and spaza shops.
Holders of this Tjeka qualification will be able to work for companies that produce these masonry units. They may even want to venture out on their own to make hollow concrete blocks. These are the most affordable for the less affluent communities. The mass of material going into a 190 square meter wall is almost half of that for one 220mm brick wall.
Even so, the key to a successful masonry brick and block business is quality. This is underpinned by skills and knowledge.
