New venture NQF2

Our NQF2 New Venture qualification teaches the skills needed to operate a successful construction small, medium and micro-sized enterprise.

Operating as an SMME in the construction industry can be very challenging. This is especially considering the industry long supply chains; complex contractual arrangements; and poor payment practice. Then there are retentions; working conditions; material inflation; and skills shortages with which these entrepreneurs have to contend. This is not to mention high credit risk.

Via this qualification (SAQA), we impart the skills that promising entrepreneurs need to succeed in the industry.

To register for this qualification, candidates must have already attained NQF1 Communication and Mathematical Literacy.

It can also be attained via recognition-of-prior learning. Tjeka will apply the internal assessment criteria specified in the related curriculum document to establish and confirm prior learning.

NQF2 New Venture competencies

Holders of a Tjeka NQF2 New Venture qualification have learnt the following competencies:

• An ability to apply basic mathematics to achieve business functions effectively
• An ability to determine market requirements and manage the relevant marketing and selling processes
• An understanding of the construction industry in which the business operates
• An ability to determine the financial requirements and manage the financial resources of a new venture
• An ability to manage business operations
