Our portable road repair skills training develops the skills South Africa needs to urgently address its declining road infrastructure. This, including pothole repair operations, will create jobs for the country’s many unemployed citizens.

The demand for basic road repair skills will continue to grow. This is considering the state of the country’s road network. About 40% and 80% of South Africa’s provincial and national roads, respectively, have reached the end of their design lives. It is estimated that the country needs upwards of R200 billion to fund road maintenance. However, this is an opportunity to create jobs for the many unemployed South African citizens, especially in the field of pothole repair.

Our portable road repair skills training develops the following competencies:

  • An understanding of road construction jargon
  • An understanding of various road construction aspects
  • An understanding of compaction techniques and bulking materials
  • An understanding of relevant and current application methods
  • An understanding of asphalt materials and properties
  • An understanding of requirements of asphalt used in road construction
  • An understanding of premix surfacing processes
  • An understanding of the role of adequate drainage and its effects on road maintenance
  • An understanding of safe working practices and the correct use of protective clothing and equipment
